The American Law Memorial’s mission is to promote an awareness of
the past, present and future role of law and the legal community in defining
and defending the United States of America. Chief Justice John Marshall’s ancestral
home “Oak Hill” has been chosen as the location for the American Law Memorial.
Oak Hill was established in 1773. It is on both the Virginia and the National
Register of Historic Places and is a “Through Hallowed Ground” historic site in
rural Fauquier County, Virginia not far from downtown Washington DC.
